We booked our entire trip around this event. We have wanted to visit the Grand Canyon for three years now and finally the timing was right. On July 2nd, we traveled by motor coach to the canyon. Upon arrival, things took a terrible turn. We were informed - not by the helicopter company - but by our tour guide that the helicopters were grounded because of the wind. However, we noticed other companies were still running helicopter tours. We spoke to another tour company who informed us that our helicopter was grounded due to heat, not wind. We were given the run around by both tour companies for most of the day and our tour guide was no where to be found. We felt hopeless. We understand that weather conditions were to blame. However, it would have been best to speak directly to the tour company rather than a tour guide who misinformed us of what was happening. Furthermore, it might be best to use a different tour company in the future as our tour company was only one with grounded helicopters due to the wind. All and all, due to poor customer service on the helicopter tours part and lack of information regarding other options for tours, this trip wasn't extremely well liked in ou group. However, we were able to go on the skywalk which was extremely nice!
