Our tour guide was great (can't remember her name). She was really knowledgeable about the theater and its history, gave us plenty of time to take pictures, and paced the tour really well. Never felt rushed. We got to go backstage, saw the artists entrance, the tv studio, the dressing rooms, the family room, stood in the circle on stage, and learned lots of history about country artists past and present. She made us feel like we were the star and it was our turn in the spotlight.
I would echo another reviewer here that you don't have to be a country fan to enjoy this tour. Just go with an open mind and you'll enjoy it!
I thought it was a little expensive at $40+. Would have been nice to have a free souvenir photo of my time in the center circle. The Ryman gave us one for free, and that tour is half the price as this one.
Also, don't like that you charge for parking. The Opry is not in the big city, so there really is no need for it. You can park for free in the mall parking lot, which is what we did.
Don't buy into the Country Duos discount ticket. It is not worth it. When you add in all the taxes and fees, the Country Duos ticket is the exact same price as two regularly priced tours. No deal here.
Also, somebody here mentioned checking out the hotel next door, the Gaylord. Don't do it. They won't let you in unless you are a registered guest or a friend of a registered guest. I tried and was told I would be arrested for trespassing if I didn't leave.
So, in short, while it was an expensive tour, I still had a great time. I would recommend a visit to the Grand Ole Opry if you're in town.
