Visit the 5-star rated Ground Zero Museum Workshop for an intimate and detailed and introduction to the “Real Ground Zero” and to things you won't see at the nearby 9/11 Memorial & Museum. The “kid-friendly” non-graphic imagery, 100 audio stories, Ground Zero artifacts and rare photos housed in this non-profit museum exhibit the heroic efforts of the FDNY firefighters on that fateful day in 2001 and the 9-month “Recovery Period." See the "Bible Page" and the "Frozen Clock." Winner of TripAdvisor’s “Top 25 Museums in the USA” award in 2013 & 2014, this is the only place you can actually pick up and hold Ground Zero artifacts, a chilling reminder for adults and a chance for young children to learn about a significant moment in history. Located in the historic Meatpacking District on West 14th street near the High Line Park and Chelsea Market Eateries. Known world-wide as the "Biggest LITTLE Museum in New York." Images by the Official Photographer at Ground Zero.

Ground Zero Museum Workshop
The Ground Zero Museum Workshop in the Meat-Packing District on West 14th Street features stunning images, rare video and remnants from the Ground Zero Recovery Period, all packed into an intimate and emotional space. On display are 100 of Gary Marlon Suson's most well-known images, including the charred Genesis 11: Tower of Babylon Bible Page found in the WTC rubble, the Frozen Clock stuck at 10:02am, marking the collapse of the South Tower and several FDNY Honor Guard images. The actual clock itself is also on display in the museum. The only all-access, sanctioned photographer at Ground Zero, Suson's one-of-a-kind, 3-D photo installations place viewers into the "hole" at Ground Zero. Visitors are also allowed the rare opportunity to pick up and hold World Trade Center steel and window glass. Tours are limited to just 25 people, and include a powerful 15-minute video. We were visiting from Georgia and were originally planning to see the 9/11 Memorial Museum when a friend told us about this other 9/11 Museum in the Meatpacking district so we went there first. WOW!!! This museum was so well thought out and designed, from the audio tour with the headsets to the artifacts that we were allowed to pick up ( those that have been sanitized). It was our 19-year-old's first foray into the history of the September 11 attacks. Much to our surprise he listened to every single audio story and didnt get bored for the 2 hours we were there. This was a tiny museum and we read that it was inspired by the founders visit to the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam which is also a small museum. The photography there was breathtaking and I cannot say enough other than to just GO! WHen you go to Ground Zero it will make much more sense after having been to this museum workshop. It made an impact on us and our son.

We found out about the Ground Zero Museum Workshop by accident on Google Maps while at Chelsea Market Eateries in the Meatpacking District and stopped by to check it out after reading the reviews. We didn’t know there was a 2nd 9/11 Museum aside from the Memorial at Ground Zero. Myself and my two kids aged 16 and 20 were pleasantly surprised by how organized and full of information the Museum was. It was created by the Official Fire Department Photographer at Ground Zero and has numerous artifacts and photographs from the dig at Ground Zero post-9/11. We also got to pick up some religious artifacts that were made from the steel beams of the trade center and given to families of those lost. More people should know about this little find, highly recommended. The self-guided audio system with the stories was top notch. (Note: the museum is on the 2nd floor...not at ground level)

I’m 17 and I thought it was a really cool Museum experience since I was not even born when 9/11 happened so after seeing so much of this on TV an YouTube I wanted to experience in person what it was like. My Mom took me to Ground Zero Museum Workshop and I learned a lot from the audio tour and also I got to pick up some artifacts like a small piece of the airplane and some window glass from one of the towers. They don’t really teach us stuff like this in school so I am glad I went. I also liked how small the Museum was, so it wasn’t one of those big super crowded Museums. The tour guide was nice. We went down to the big Museum at Ground Zero and that also was interesting but overall I preferred the Ground Zero Museum Workshop. I think I learned more from the audio guides.
