The lunch hour was 2 hours for you to go eat and shop in Beale Street. This time of day, most places were closed. The wait on the boat for the boat to leave was an hour. That makes up about half of the day long tour. Pickup for us was at 9:00am and we back to the hotel at 4:10pm and we were the first ones off. So, we spent 4+ of the 7 hours not on the tour, but on our own.
2 hour city tour, which was minimal when it comes to vast history of Memphis . The historic homes were interesting and they were very grand. Michelle (guide) was very nice, but we couldn’t understand her through their system.
I didn’t realize that pointing out celebrity home on the Mississippi was worth the boat ride. Near the dock, there is quite a bit of history. They just didn’t cover any of it. The boat went out fast and floated slowly back to make it about an hour. The float back past the skyline was nice with the breeze. Jordan (guide) was easy to understand and a very nice person.
The pickup and delivery back to your downtown hotel was nice.
All-in-all, it depends on what you what from a tour. Memphis is rich with history. We didn’t get much on this tour. Mostly, very recent history and mostly about their number one industry; healthcare. So, I’d read up on Wikipedia and save your money.
