Come join us snorkeling some of the most beautiful reefs within the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary and Pennekamp State Park. We have many possible reefs to explore: Molasses, Elbow, French Reef and the famous Christ of the Abyss on Dry Rocks. These protected areas offer an opportunity to see turtles, spotted eagle rays, moray eels and a variety of different fish. These special reefs are part of the 3rd largest living reef system in the world and the ONLY living coral reef in the US. We stop at two different locations on the reef. Each stop is determined by the captain based on the day's conditions. We cannot guarantee any specific site. We also offer scuba diving on our trips.

In an effort to reduce the amount of single-use plastic that ends up in our oceans, we recommend bringing a reusable water bottle. We have water coolers in our shop and on our boats for your convenience!

It was too choppy for beginners to snorkel and three of our party had never snorkeled before but are great shimmers. This trip should have been our highlight on our trip but became a true nightmare. Many of the passengers became sea sick and were throwing up both from the boat and snorkeling. The water was very rough and it was hard to see any fish at all. Most of the strength went on not drifting away from the boat too far instead of snorkeling. I am truly sad that the trip became like this. It had been helpful if the personnel had prepared us on the weather condition in advance.

First time for me snorkling and I wish the experience would have been a lot better. The experience felt rushed and stressful. We had to return the life wests before the boat docked at the shore. It felt strange to do so as I am rather certain it was said in the waiver that we should wear the life vests during the entire tour. It was also extremely choppy on the ocean (about 4 feet tall waves) and the majority of the passengers were throwing up due to sea sickness. We received no information about the ocean condition or recommendations to take motion sickness medication beforehand. Three of our party (of 4) became extremely ill. My family and I had booked another snorkeling tour later the same week with another company, but that company contacted us due to bad sea conditions which felt very professional. Sadly I can’t recommend Pirate Cove Watersports snorkling tour as it was a very unsatisfactory experience.

I am sorry you did not have a good experience on your snorkel excursion. We always try to warn our customers when we know the weather is not ideal because we want everyone to be safe and have a good time. Unfortunately, We don't always know that the water is going to be rough until we get out to the reef, especially on our morning trips. As for the life vests-Coast guard requires persons ages 6 and under wear a life vest at all times while on a vessel less than 26ft in length. Snorkel vests or PFD's (personal flotation devices) are required while snorkeling. These can be blown up for floatation or deflated to make it easier for snorkelers to dive down under the water. I can assure you we follow all of the laws here. Our top priority is our customers safety and to help facilitate a wonderful experience! Again, we are sorry you did not have a great experience.

Captain Caiti and her crew did a wonderful job guiding us on our Key Largo snorkeling tour. She took us to two stunning reefs where we saw an abundance of wildlife. Sharks, stingrays, schools of fish and even a few barracuda! They supplied the equipment and gave clear, concise instructions on how to have a safe and exciting snorkeling experience.
