Half Day Snorkel Trip on Reefs in the Florida Keys

Overview
Come join us snorkeling some of the most beautiful reefs within the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary and Pennekamp State Park. We have many possible reefs to explore: Molasses, Elbow, French Reef and the famous Christ of the Abyss on Dry Rocks. These protected areas offer an opportunity to see turtles, spotted eagle rays, moray eels and a variety of different fish. These special reefs are part of the 3rd largest living reef system in the world and the ONLY living coral reef in the US. We stop at two different locations on the reef. Each stop is determined by the captain based on the day's conditions. We cannot guarantee any specific site. We also offer scuba diving on our trips.

In an effort to reduce the amount of single-use plastic that ends up in our oceans, we recommend bringing a reusable water bottle. We have water coolers in our shop and on our boats for your convenience!

Captain Katie and Liber were great. We saw real dolphins on the boat ride on the way to the reefs. We snorkeled at the Christ statue for 1 hour and another reef spot for about an hour. The coral was beautiful and we saw battery of barracuda, a shark, and other schools of fish. The boat was really nice. This boat leaves from the Reefhouse resort and was super convenient as we stayed at the resort. I would recommend to consider renting a wet suit if you are snorkeling in the morning as it was only 69 degrees . We had our personal wet suit jackets, and my teenager still had to get out after 40 minutes of snorkeling as she was really cold.

The winds were not cooperative the day we went out but the team at Pirates Cove Watersports adapted and overcame. We were scheduled for a reef trip but the seas were too great. Cap't Catie and first mate Lieber took us to snorkel the mangroves and saved the day for us. Thanks for turning the day around

"Thank you for your kind review! While we canā€™t control the weather, weā€™re always happy to find alternative adventures to make sure our guests have a great time. Weā€™re so glad you enjoyed snorkeling the mangroves with Capt. Caiti and First Mate Lieber! We hope to take you out to the reef on a future visit when the seas are calmer. Thanks again for choosing Pirates Cove Watersports!
