What a wonderful experience combining the history and culture and music of Harlem. Neal is such an entertaining and knowledgeable guide. We walked through the streets on an unusually warm winter's evening accompanied by the rich jazz soundtrack from the 20s and onwards. It was exciting to visit the sites of the original Cotton Club and the Savoy Dance Theatre, to see the tributes to the many Harlem legends along the sidewalk and the giant mural of Dizzy Gillespie. We learnt about the history of the Black Power movement on the anniversary of the death of Malcolm X. We also learnt about the affluence and the architecture of the early 20th century. The highlight of the tour was a visit to the Abyssinian Baptist Church for the gospel service. Such wonderful music and preaching and fellowship. I high,y recommend this tour if you want to see the real Harlem.

Neal was really engaging, and gave us a great tour of Harlem, walking past the former sites of the Cotton Club and Savoy. He played music for the 1920's era while we walked the neighborhood and brought a lot of energy to the tour. The church experience was great, the gospel singers were top class and the sermon was interesting. There is a dress code at the church which the ushers policed but I felt this was very reasonable. Thanks again Neal!

Neil is a very enthusiastic guy who is very knowledgeable and passionate about Harlem. I’m hoping he remembers to check out Muhammad Ali’s visit to our hometown of South Shields where he had his wedding blessed.
