My wife and I booked a trip with Bitterroot Backpacking as part of our anniversary trip to Montana! We have done quite a bit of hiking in our area but wanted some insight into the plants, animals and terrain in Montana as we had never visited there before. We couldn't have been happier! Luke's knowledge of the local plants and wildlife was extensive! We got to see many beautiful mountain flowers during the hike, and even got to see a little pika while we were floating on the lake! Floating on a mountain lake was so surreal and peaceful! The stillness and quiet of being on the water while being surrounded by the beautiful scenery was so refreshing! Paddling back to the shore and being welcomed by a fresh brewed cup of coffee was the perfect way to end the float before hiking back down. Because we booked the group trip, we were a little unsure what it would be like hiking in a group with people we didnt know, but by the end of the hike we had a strong sense of comraderie with all the other guest. Luke did a fantastic job of taking time during the hike to answer questions, and get to know each of the hikers. Pretty impressive given that their were 7 of us! After the hike, he sent out pictures from our day, and even made reccomendations on other hikes we could try during the rest of our time in Montana! I would definitely recommend Bitterroot backpacking to anyone looking for something unique and memorable in the Bitterroot valley!
