We enjoyed the tour on the Tammy Jane. It's definitely not a "thrill" ride, as the process involves dropping nets into the water and trawling for 45 minutes, and then seeing what the nets captured...which, in addition to shrimp, can be small fish, crabs, jellyfish, etc. The young crew was friendly, fun and very knowledgeable. One young crewman was a marine biology major onboard as part of a summer internship. It was very interesting to see how shrimp fishermen do the job; alas, it's a vanishing tradition as the commercial shrimping industry has virtually disappeared on the North Carolina coast, due to the cheaper cost of importing shrimp farmed overseas.
