Icy Strait Whale & Wildlife Endeavor

Преглед
Explore Icy Strait in style aboard our custom built 6 passenger whale watching catamaran with an enclosed heated cabin, restroom, indoor seating, outdoor seating, & 360 degree walk around viewing deck. We limit our vessel to 6 passengers max (whether private or mixed) to provide our guests with an uncrowded, relaxed, and intimate wildlife experience.

On the day of your tour, we will pick you up from your cruise ship port – Icy Strait Point and return you via van. Our excursion is 3 hours and 45 minutes from pick up to drop off (includes meeting, transit, & loading time). We designed this excursion to be one of the longest whale watching tours offered in Icy Strait. This extra time on the water allows us to take full advantage of Icy Strait's rich diversity of marine wildlife.

We guarantee whale sightings or you will receive a full refund.

We designed our calendar to accommodate as many ships as possible. A calendar listing specific ships can be found on our Vivid Endeavors website.

Icy Strait
Icy Strait is a legendary body of water that connects the protected inside waters of Southeast Alaska to the open Pacific Ocean. The nutrient rich waters of Southeast Alaska make it one of the most productive ecosystems in the world. During the summer months, these abundant fjords become the ideal home and feeding ground for a large population of Humpback Whales. Humpbacks travel to the area every year after their winter breeding season in the warmer waters of Hawaii and Mexico. After navigating over 3000 miles, we often see the same individual humpbacks return to Icy Strait year after year. Humpbacks aren’t the only wildlife in the area. Our trips often encounter Sea Lions, Seals, Porpoise, Sea Otters, Bald Eagles, Coastal Brown Bears along the shoreline, & our favorite – the awe inspiring Orca better known as the Killer Whale.
2
Hoonah
On the day of your tour, we will meet you at your cruise ship port and then transport you through the town of Hoonah to the local harbor where our whale watching vessel is docked. Our brief van ride offers beautiful views of Port Frederick and the surrounding landscape. Occasionally, we'll even see wildlife (including Eagles) on our ride to the vessel. After your time on the water, we will transport you back to your cruise ship docking area. The van ride is approximately 5 minutes.

We were on the Norwegian Bliss Alaska Cruise and we're looking for a local tour without the crowds and cost of Norwegian-sponsered tours. We found Vivd Endeavors and the boat Captain Seth. We booked the 4.25 hour whale watching tour. Online booking directly on the company website was easy. Seth texted us the night before our tour and confirmed all the details. Day of the tour, Seth met us promptly at the Excursion hub in Icy Strait Point. A quick private van trip to Hoonah and we were on the docks heading to our boat. The boat only takes maximum of 6 passengers. For that day, it was only the 4 people in our party on the boat! We ended up with a private tour. The boat was comfortable and felt very steady and safe. They provided hot coffee, bottled water, and snacks. There is also a bathroom on board. The best part about the boat was that there was a warm enclosed cabin and an outside platform on the front and back. And you can see everything from everywhere. We set sa from the docks and almost immediately found a pod of humpback whales. Seth provided a ton of information about the whales and got us in great position for pictures and viewing. After about 30 minutes there, we set sail for Adolphus point where Seth said a lot of sealife was active. He was right! Bears on the shore, humpbacks jumping out of the water, otters feeding, sea lions, and porpoises. We were the only boat there! We eventually headed back towards the humpback pod closer to the docks and got another good viewing and photo session. Seth asked us what we wanted to do and see more of and he adjusted the trip to our desires. Overall, this experience exceeded our expectations and was the highlight of our whole cruise! Seth was awesome and so knowledgeable. It was also great to support a local company instead of a massive cruise company. 1000% with recommend and book again! Best experience and cheaper than the cruise ship excursions.

This tour was perfect! We were able to see many whales, sea otters, & eagles! Seth was an outstanding captain with lots of local knowledge. We are so happy he had availability. The boat was very nicely sized and we had the entire trip to ourselves! We highly recommended Vivid Endeavors and will definitely be booking again if we return to Alaska.
