Was so excited for this ride, what a disappointment. Had a ride scheduled for 9:30am. Did not go out until 11:00am. They book 2 and 4 hr rides together and load 2 hr rides first. There was another group of 6 who was waiting for the 4 hour ride but it was obvious one of the riders knew the guide. Her entire group was pushed loaded up and then they took off without the rest of us. Another couple was waiting along with me and my husband and we all looked at each other like WTH?? Another wrangler finally asked if we were waiting for a ride. I responded, “yes, the 9:30 ride and it’s now 11:00”. We finally got horses and left a little after 11:00. Had to stop and wait 5 minutes into the ride because the guides horse was acting up and the other female riders horse was not wanting to walk. The guides horse had previously thrown a child from a ride two days prior and they were having him “re-break” him! He ended up having to pull the other horse along to keep her moving. After lunch the horse that had been refusing to walk followed a little better but kept getting off the trail and wanting to walk in grass. We got back to the barn at 2:20pm… 3 hrs after we left. It was supposed to be a 4 hr ride. The guide tried to get the horses to go further but they all refused- habituated to return. The horse I was on seemed tired the entire time. When we got back to the barn she went straight for the water. The horses were not given any water on this ride which was uphill a majority of the time to an elevation of over 8,000. What was really disturbing was when we read the board that listed all of the horses names, “limping” was next to the horse that kept refusing to walk. They made us wait 1. 5 hrs for a ride, used and injured horse and cut 30 minutes off of our time. I paid $312 for this and expected more. They can take my “gratuity” out of the 30 minutes I paid for but didn’t get. Save your money!!!
