The mantas are amazing and majestic.
But a word to the wise, no matter what company you go with -- the street parking for these tours makes you a sitting duck for people to break into your car. They know you're not coming back for over an hour and it's right after it gets dark.
We were parked on Kaleiopapa Street right under a lamppost, in perhaps the most visible area. No matter, thieves smashed a window to break into our rental car and steal my wife's purse. The purse was well-hidden under a seat (not too many other options when going on a boat), but they went for it anyway.
Such an unnecessary hassle and waste. There was no cash in the purse, they got nothing out of it. All the credit cards are cancelled, the police are going to help with a form that allows you to board an airplane if your ID has been stolen, but there will be weeks of replacing credit card info, getting a new driver's license, etc. My son sliced his hand on all of the broken glass and is a little traumatized about the idea of someone smashing the window he usually sits next to.
Yes, part of growing up and realizing the f&*&**ing scum that exists in the world, but not a lesson I was particularly looking forward to imparting tonight.
