Overall it was a unique experience - it was nice to get up close to the manta ray. Check-in and boat ride were also a breeze. However, we were extremely unhappy with our guide, Dylan. Maybe he was in a bad mood that night. The whole time he was impatient and grumpy with us. While we were getting from the boat to the board and still trying to get our bearing, he yelled at the group and told us to go back to the boat if we didn't want to see the manta rays. Hello? We are just trying get comfortable adjusting our position. Later, he was grumpy again when he told us to move the noodle down to our waists, saying something like "I don't know how many times I have to repeat myself, but I'm gonna keep saying it". Did it ever occur to him that maybe some of us aren't just need some time to get comfortable with the water? After this, it was just silence from him. No interesting information about the manta rays. Nothing. While our group was looking at the manta rays feeding in silence, I heard the guide of another group giving educational and pleasant introduction of the manta rays. Wish he was our guide instead.

Thank you for sharing. I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed seeing the mantas. I have passed your comments on to Dylan and agree that we all have good days and bad days. Out of all of our guides Dylan has been with us the longest and has shared many nights out with our guests. His primary job is to keep everyone safe and it can be frustrating when people don't listen or follow instructions. I apologize if this came across as rude or impatient and can discuss how to improve our communication moving forward. Mahalo for your time and we hope you enjoyed the rest of your stay on the Big Island. Aloha.
