Because of Kilauea's diverse landscapes, stunning beauty, and vast, almost unending site seeing potential; we have decided to dedicate an entire day to exploring Kilauea volcano. All the way from her amazing summit, to her ever-growing shores.

After convenient pickup from your hotel, travel to the lush rainforests found in great abundance on the island's east side. Make your way to Hilo via Saddle Road, reaching an elevation of almost 6,800 feet (2,072 m). Along the way, pass through many of the microclimates that make the Big Island among the most exceptional places in the world. As you approach Hilo, glance inside a once-scorching conduit of molten rock from the Mauna Loa Volcano as your guide enlightens you to the significance of lava tubes to Hawaii's creation. After a quick trip into the nearby Kaumana Caves, check out Waianuenue, also known as Rainbow Falls. This stunning 80-foot (24-m) drop has beckoned generations of visitors to Hilo. This tour was fantastic! My husband and I took this tour with Scott a couple of weeks ago and had the best day! Scott is a fun, knowledgable, and passionate tour guide - his enthusiasm for the Big Island volcanoes was contagious! He has the ability to explain the geology, botany, and history of the island in a way that is clear and easlily understood. He was willing to structure the tour to our small group's interests and abilities while showing us things we would not have seen on our own. He was always 'checking in' on us - making sure we were comfortable and seeing what we wanted to see. The day started with Scott picking us up at our condo at 9 AM and though it was a long day, the time flew by! We thoroughly enjoyed our time with Scott and definitely recommend any of Scott's tours!

Just writing this review after a few months, but wanted to tell everyone that this is an excellent tour! We had a small group of four and joined another two for this tour. During our visit there was no active lava like there is now, but we got lots of great information about the island, and especially about the volcanos on this tour. We made enough stops so that we could stretch, see points of interest, and eat lunch. It is a long day, mind you, so be prepared for that! The thing that stood out to me, however, was that the tour was personalized so that Scott selected the best things for us to experience based on our group and what was going on with the volcanos that day - a much better option than a canned tour on a giant bus full of people. Highly recommended!

First, a quick precision, we went on the Volcano Van tour on the 27th April 2018, one week prior to the Kilauea new eruption. We had a great time touring the island with Scott. He picked us up at the Hilton Waikoloa Village at 9.00 AM and from there, we went on a journey of discovery, fun and knowledge. Our main goal was to go to Kilauea and Scott adapted the itinerary on the day to ensure that we get the best experience out of it, being fully aware of the weather conditions (for example clouds that could block the view of the Kilauea caldera) and status of the lava lake... As a result we arrived at the National Volcano Park with ideal weather conditions and the lava lake bubbling (we were particularly lucky on this). We then went on to discover the beauties of Big Island, from the water falls to the diversity of landscapes that the Big Island proposes, all of this accompanied by Scott savvy comments and remarks, making this tour a truly unique experience. Highly recommended!
