To be honest, I thought this would have been a better experience. We did have fun and we enjoyed the unlimited use of kayaks and paddle boards, but the experience was a bit underwhelming. It’s hard to explain. You’re surrounded by the sheer beauty of the landscape, but you’re left wanting something more from this “Secret Island,” so to speak.
Notes About Staff: Most of the staff members were lovely, funny people. There were some staff members, however, that clearly were unhappy in their jobs. One of the ticket booth workers was very gruff and robot-like in her directions (there’s got to be a better way than saying the same script to over 100 individual people....perhaps a group announcement or an informational card). Also, one of the cashiers at the cafe was rude and not very nice. Finally, the lifeguards were very helpful and extremely vigilant, but they were clearly getting annoyed when people were going outside of the buoys while kayaking and paddle boarding. There was a strong wind pushing everyone outside the lines. No one was intentionally doing this and it was difficult to turn back against the wind. It was annoying to hear people being barked at by the lifeguards over the loudspeaker. Everyone was just doing their best to have fun and navigate the waters. Maybe show more kindness to the tourists who are spending A LOT of money here. C’mon, people. It’s a tourist attraction. This is the job.
