Before coming to San Diego, we had no idea that Mexico even produced wine. When we looked up wine tours, expecting to go somewhere near San Diego, tours to Baja California’s Valle de Guadalupe came up and we thought we would take a chance - and we are so glad we did.
Mario was a fantastic, knowledgeable guide to the area, the culture, and the wines. It is clear that he loves what he does , and he shares that with the guests on his tour. We got lucky and ended up with a private tour by chance, and it was even better than expected, because we were able to move at our own pace, as well as make additional stops, like at a cheese shop.
Highly highly recommended if you like wine, and would like to explore a little known region. We didn’t know what to expect, but the wineries were all so eclectic and interesting. We went to three on our tour, but Mario works with over 60 of the 100+ wineries in the valley and changes up where he visits all the time. If we had more time we might have done the tour a second time, or even the overnight excursion!
