A friend of ours booked this trip and I had no idea as to what to expect. The tour started with a short visit to an historic Methodist church with some of the most gorgeous stained glass I have ever seen. John, the tour guide owner, used this stop as a general introduction to the area, an overview of some of the local history, and gave us an idea of what we would do during the tour.
First stop was Cypress Point and Plate where we had a burger on a bun made from a grilled Krispy Kream donut (seriously?) with topped with cheese and slow cooked Vidalia onions. It was off the hook!! Oh, did I mention that many of the stops included a drink of some sort. A dry hard cider in this case.
The on to the second spot. Fried green tomatoes followed by the most awesome shrimp and grits I have ever had. Cocktail? A Mississippi Mule concocted from Honeysuckle infused vodka, ginger beer, and fresh lime juice.
After a short walk (thank goodness) Princi Italia with Bruschetta followed by a Neopolitan style pizza topped with figs and gorgonzola cheese. Served with a champagne/campari cocktail.
Just when you feel like you can't eat another bite, not one but two additional stops. Choice of 30-40 different cakes and cheesecakes at the first, and Asian bakery goods at the second.
Throughout the door John commented on the local historic spots, pointed out numerous restaurants, and just generally did a great job of detailing the Midtown neighborhood of Atlanta. John is a highly personable guy with a great sense of humor and it is obvious that he is in love with the food scene and culture of the area.
Don't miss out on this opportunity!

Hey Austex!
Thanks for the fabulous review! I love my guests who show up having no idea what a "Food Tour" is all about!
To you TA readers... Yep! The buns on the burger are Krispy Kreme donuts! Sounds like a sugary mess, doesn't it?? But then what did Austex have to say about that foodie adventure... "It was off the hook!" And...Folks, that's just the first restaurant stop!!
A beautiful historic church, a fabulous burger, a bit of history told through stories, then more food...and a drink here and there...and after the dessert stop (which locals refer to as The Experience!)... I take you shopping! How about an Asian bakery for some treats in a pretty pink bag...for later!!
I'm with Austex... "Don't miss out on this opportunity!".
Austex...You're the best! Thanks again for taking a moment to share your thoughts!
John
