Got up at 4a and drive to pickup point to meet ride for the hot air balloon. I was the only one in this van w Scott as a couple we went to pick up cancelled. Met Nicks van at Sky airport, all got in one van, and drove to spot in desert. It was cold. Did some unintentional mud bogging to get there, due to downpour the other night. We got to see them unpacking and setting up basket and balloon. Tall basket, have to climb over 4' side to get in and out. 5 walled sections inside. Had 3 people in each of four outside sections, and Captain in center. Thank God the 2 cancelled, we were aleady sardined. It warmed up from the heat off of the burners. After safety instructions, we were off. Amazing sunrise views. We could see desert and mountains. Homes and cars looked like tiny toys. It was wonderful being out in the elements that high up. I think he said 2000 or 2500 feet. 3000 feet and we'd be waving to planes. Very calm ride. If you close your eyes, its like you are just standing in a basket on the ground. Mother nature was not cooperating on the landing. Pilot can only go up, down, and 360°. Have to ride the winds to try and land. After a few attempts, last attempt was in a very bushy area. Chaser team had to get to us and grab bottom of basket to pull balloon into better area so balloon could be deflated without getting ripped up. They set up a champaigne lunch on site for us while the balloon was being packed up. We each got a certificate. Mud bogged out of there (which was a fun unexpected freebie. Lol.) back to airport, Scott and I got back in original van for the long drive to my drop off. I would definately do this again.

Hello TrinksTrinkets,
Yes, we had a bit of mud in the fields for a few days after some recent rain, but we managed to find our way around it! It takes an experienced team to navigate sky and land to provide a safe and fun balloon excursion. We're happy to hear you enjoyed your time with us. Thank you for choosing Hot Air Expeditions for your adventure!
