On the way out to Muir Woods, you will cross the iconic Golden Gate Bridge with breathtaking views of the San Francisco Bay and Alcatraz Island.
Continue along the Pacific Coast Highway, providing stunning views of the coastal mountains before heading further to Muir Woods National Monument.

With maps in hand, take a walk through the spectacular woods and take in all of its natural beauty. After exploring Muir Woods for about 1.5 hours at your leisure, we will head to charming Sausalito, a small Mediterranean-style seaside town in Marin County, home to some of the country's wealthiest citizens.

If you wish to spend time in Sausalito, you can choose to hop off the tour and enjoy a ferry ride back to San Francisco with beautiful views of the Golden Gate Bridge, the San Francisco skyline and Alcatraz Island (ferry tickets not included), or you can stay on board the tour and return back to San Francisco.

We spent the day in the Muir Woods and Sausalito (with a yummy lunch at Francis 3). My 15-year old daughter was initially not Interested in this day trip but I told her to trust me, there is a reason it is on my bucket list. Well, low and behold, she was in awe at the natural beauty and enormity of the Woods and said, “wow I get it now.” Beautiful is an understatement! Also, Sausalito is a charming town!! This is a great experience while visiting San Francisco.

The tour was supposed to last 4 hours. In the description of the tour it talks about stopping at the Golden Gate Bridge for a photo opportunity and some time in Sausalito. The tour was scheduled for 9:00am and was back by about 12:20pm I only had one day in the City and took this tour because I thought I'd be able to see some of the City sites in addition to the Muir Woods. Commentary was great on the way to the Muir Woods but lacking on the way back.

Went on a beautiful day. Appreciated the commentary by our driver on our way out. Stopped by the Golden Gate for a 5-10 minute photo op. We had about 80 minutes at Muir Woods which was sufficient to walk the main trail and back. The comments about the short stop in Sausalito were accurate. They had a 10-minute stop planned. We ended up getting off for lunch and a nice walk, then paying $12.50 each to take the ferry back to Pier 41.
