This was a great way to experience the history of the plantations and see outside of New Orleans! At first I thought I would see less by picking one plantation but our guide was very knowledgeable and explained the history of others along the river and give us good visuals from the van. Highly recommended!

The tour driver was excellent: helpful, informative, humorous, and enjoyable. The Whitney Plantation Tour itself was an eye-opener concerning slavery history from a slave's point of view, not a slave owner's viewpoint. It was a hard reminder of the difficulties and brutality slaves experience, but as one person said: "Although it is a painful history, it is a necessary one."

Our van driver gave us a lot of information on the way to the plantation which was interesting. I really enjoyed being able to take my time and really listen to and read the stories of the slaves. I learned about the slave revolt which I had never heard of or been taught about.
