We had a fantastic time Rhode Island Red Food Tours in Newport last weekend. I wasn't sure what to expect other than trying some small portions from different restaraunts around Newport. What it turned out to be was three hours of exquisite bites and a dash of history to spice things up! The portion sizes where much more generous than I anticipated, as we were told we were having a "tasting" at each location and we should expect to leave satisfied but not full. In my estimation, portions were much more than a "taste" and each and every one was delicious!
I tried things I don't generally eat and wouldn't think to order for myself and I was pleasantly surprised each time. It's clear that much thought has been given experiencing different flavors, and we got a bit of sweet and a bit of savory so it was a wonderful mix.
The history aspect of the tour was served just like the food - bite-sized, delectable, satiating bits of local history.
This is a fantastic event for a date night, or with friends. I don't think young children would appreciate it, but there's something from everyone else: historic neighborhoods, amusing and engaging stories, and of course, delicious food!
The best part is I have so many places I have to revisit now... Even having frequented Newport establishment, I feel like I'm seeing it anew since this tour and can't wait to return to explore these places further!
