This trip runs on Eastern Time.
You will get an amazing 3 mile tour just outside Chattanooga, Tennessee at Nickajack Lake and will learn about gray bats, osprey, cliff swallows, blue heron, and other wildlife. Your guide will discuss how they are all interconnected, what is being done to protect these wild animals, and what impact you can do to help the incredible endangered gray bat. We throw in a little history of the Tennessee River and how it became what it looks like today. With a grand finale of watching 100,00 gray bats leave the cave at sunset.

The bat cave kayak excursion is so worth doing! Low-pressure paddle with an informative guide and a unique opportunity to see the bats!

Hi Ashley, Thank you for the 5 star review! If you liked the Nickjack Bat Cave Sunset Kayak Tour you will love the Sandhill Crane Sunset Kayak Tour, where 15,000 5 foot tall migratory birds camp out from Nov. - Feb. It is like paddling through Jurassic Park.

Very cool experience! Nick was a great guide—definitely recommend! The water cools considerably at night- keep that in mind. The Blue Herons, Osprey and other wildlife were bonus features. Jumping fish, and swirling insects preceded the bats in a carefully choreographed presentation!

We (my son, daughter-in-law, granddaughter, and myself) had a wonderful time kayaking and being able to experience watching the bats as they left the cave last night (the bats were amazing!). Zach was very knowledgeable and we learned a lot about the area and the wildlife. It was my first time in a kayak and it certainly won’t be my last…so relaxing and enjoyable. Thank you, Zach, for a great experience. We will be back!
