PLEASE NOTE that visibility of the northern lights (aurora) is not guaranteed. It is a natural phenomenon we have no control over and no refunds will be given if the aurora cannot be seen.

The road to Murphy Dome is steep and if it is not plowed or is too icy and dangerous we will take customers to an alternative location that provides the same opportunity to see the aurora.

Driver was sweet, but this tour should've been cancelled. Cloudy, snowing, no phone call to confirm or discuss weather and there was 0% chance of aurora sighting. We knew that at 4pm yet they picked up at 10pm. Very few people on the dome. Clearly, other tours figured out that it was a bust. But this company took our money anyway

Renee, we offer a very generous 24-hour cancellation policy whereas other tour companies in this area are typically 48 hours to 1 week. This allows our customers to track the weather and solar activity and decide for themselves 24 hours prior to the tour if they wish to go. Yesterday, the day started out cloudy and snowing, and we ended up having a dazzling Aurora display in the evening when the clouds parted. As weather is fickle here and there is always a chance, we take out our tours in all weather conditions here in the interior of Alaska. As far as your message, we received only one email from you at 8pm on the very night of your tour, 2 hours prior to your pickup. Unfortunately, our office is not open 24 hours a day, and we did not see your email asking about weather conditions until the morning after your tour. We did call you approximately 36 hours prior to your tour to confirm your pickup time, as we promised we would. We regret that you did not have the experience you wished for, but we hope you were able to enjoy at least some of your Alaskan vacation.

I hate leaving bad reviews but I feel compelled to warn other travelers. It was snowing the night of our tour and instead of cancelling, the company decided to drive 9 of us passengers in their van, which did NOT have four wheel drive, and we began slipping backwards. Fortunately, the driver was able to eventually turn the van around but we never made it to Murphy Dome and we were never offered even a partial refund.

As the weather is fickle here and there is always a chance, we take out our tours in all weather conditions here in the interior of Alaska. When Murphy Dome is covered in fresh snow, even the most robust 4-wheel drive vehicles will get stuck at that summit. And that is why we have several alternate viewing locations for this which are all very viable. Your tour group all agreed to head to our alternate location at Chena Lakes, and the tour proceeded according to our plan B. Should plan B have failed, we also have a plan C. As stated earlier in this response, the weather is unpredictable in this region, and we are always prepared with alternatives to make sure our guests get every chance possible at viewing the Northern Lights. All our vehicles are fully winterized, with studded winter tires, and well stocked with emergency equipment including but not limited to, first aid kits, propane heaters, cold weather gear for passengers, snow shovels, tow straps, satellite phones, spare tires, and tire chains. We take guest safety extremely seriously, and we have not had a single guest injury in over 12 years of operation.

This looked to be an amazing spot for viewing the Northern Lights. Unfortunately, nature did not cooperate the night we were there. The tour guide was friendly. There was hot chocolate and a heater in the van.
