Guests will need one MetroCard swipe or OMNY tap to enter the subway.

Please note that although you will see abandoned subway stations from the train, the Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) doesn't grant public access into them under any circumstances.

This tour is a essentially a history of the subway system in NYC. You start near the World Trade Center and go into the subway system, hopping on / off different lines and walking through existing stations. The tour guide points out things you may not notice like former entrances to buildings that have been walled over, where stairs used to be, etc. I thought it would be much more about stations that have been closed up but you only see two of those - both from the window of the subway car you are riding in, and the tour guide has you look out the window, cupping your hands over your eyes for darkness, and then counts down so you know to look as the subway car whizzes through. Disappointing.

Thank you for taking the time to review your experience with us and I am very sorry you were disappointed. The Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) does not allow the public to enter abandoned stations under any circumstances. To do is considered illegal. Yet so many New Yorkers and long-time commuters don’t know that you can experience them by passing them through them as you did. And again this is only part of what the tour is intended to cover, you are also supposed to get a deeper understanding of the history and workings of the system as well.
