Sea kayaking requires a moderate level of physical activity. It is not recommended for guests with back problems, limited upper body strength or anyone who is prone to seasickness. In addition to paddling a kayak, guests need to be able to climb short sets of stairs; walk to the departure point; climb on and off the office boat; ascend and descend a short ladder; and sit on the dock or loading platform to get in and out of kayaks.

Very professional and knowledgeable staff!! Rough ride over to Orca Cove made for an interesting trip, but Jessie assured us that all would be well when we got to the cove. And it was fine, even though it was pouring rain! Our adventure was cut short due to deteriorating weather conditions, but we still had a great time. A tip of our collective hats to Jessie, our kayaking guide ... SSK will certainly miss you when you leave for San Francisco!

My husband and I had a wonderful time on this excursion. We had never gone kayaking before, but everyone made us very comfortable. We were met just outside our cruise ship and driven to their boat. We chose the 4 hour Orca cove tour, and had 4 other people in our group. We were taken by boat to a cove where another boat was holding our kayaks. My husband and I had a double kayak, and we paddled for about 2-3 hours with our guide. We had a great time seeing wildlife including a deer, a bald eagle's nest with a baby, and of course the jumping salmon. Following the kayaking, we were served a delicious salmon spread. We ended up buying several t-shirts and freshly canned salmon, which they sell in the kayak shop. Would definitely do again!

We've taken two tours with Southeast Sea Kayaks and both were excellent. In 7/05 my husband and I took the flight/sea option-it was just the two of us, I had never kayaked, but had a great time exploring the area-the salmon picnic snack was tasty, and the flight tour was gorgeous. This summer we returned to Alaska on a princess cruise, and I booked a private tour for our family of six-kids ages 6,8,10 & 12, in Orca cove. the price was good since we got a May discount. None of them had kayaked before, but our guide was very helpful, and they all caught on. We enjoyed exploring the tidal areas, holding starfish, looking at sealife, and especially seeing several bald eagles. It was my oldest son's favorite part of our 13 day trip. We would definitely do this again.
