The Original Sea Cave Kayak Tour (90 Minutes in Length) offers unforgettable guided tours through the La Jolla Ecological Reserve. Each tour is lead by experienced guide(s) who ensure participants safely navigate through the unique ecological habitats while seeing different types of marine life.

This highly-protected and unique area boasts one of the highest concentrations of sea-life in the West Coast. Guests commonly encounter seals, sea lions, and a multitude of birds and fish, and lucky guests might even see dolphins or whales!

Towards the southern end of the Ecological Reserve, La Jolla's Seven Sea Caves patiently await, allowing participants to witness their beauty. Weather permitting, participants can kayak through the large sea cave that goes from the ocean into the Emerald Cove.
Entry into the Emerald Cave depends on the safety, and is not guaranteed. Participants must be five years or older to participate in the tour.

Valid for up to two people to ride in a double kayak.

Amazing time kayaking. Our guide Cali was knowledgeable and charismatic. The ocean was favourable and we were able to enter one of the caves. We saw wildlife such as common dolphins and pelicans.

Julie and Sam were awesome guides! The weather was awesome! It was a little breezy which made the water choppy but we still were able to get close to the caves, see some sea lions and dolphins and have a great time out on the water! Great experience!!

We did not kayak in a cave. All we did was kayak out a ways from shore near the cave and that was all. Not at all worth the $129 we paid! I could have reserved a kayak from the resort for a lot cheaper and had the same experience by ourselves! Honestly there was nothing they did to make this experience worth $129. Save your money because not worth it! At the end of the kayak experience, our tour guide asked if some people wanted to swim. The water was absolutely freezing and we were ready to go in but she made us wait while ONE person decided they wanted to swim in the water. We were literally less than 50 yards from shore and she wanted us to wait. Ridiculous. We were done and ready to go in. No reason for us to wait especially since the other half of our group with the other tour guide was going in to shore. We could have easily gone in with them. But honestly, we could have just gone to shore ourself because there is nothing anyone really needs help with. All you do is paddle to shore and get out of your kayak.

Annette, Thank you for your honest review. Unfortunately the caves get very dangerous when weather turns on us. We do our best to work with what Mother Nature offers us and the winter season is the most unpredictable when it comes to storms and surf. It sounds like you may have been more interested in a kayak rental to explore the cove by yourself, or perhaps a private tour on a calm sunny day. Our guides do their best to accommodate the needs of everybody in the group while working within safety procedures set forth by our company and the lifeguards. By keeping the group together, our guide was ensuring others didn't get swept by a wave or drift into neighboring no-kayak zones while a guest enjoyed a quick swim.
