The day started out lousy with a cold & steady rain but Jimmy kept us going. By mid trip the weather cleared and we had a great day of Salmon fishing!!! We spotted whales and Bald Eagles 🦅 along the way and hauled in a lot of fish! Jimmy was a great captain 👩‍✈️ and knew what he was doing. Wonderful experience!

We were a group of 5. We did the 4 hour Salmon charter on Sunday, August 12th. We were on the Carnival Legend. I had spoken with Mike to book and he was wonderful helping me to decide which tour to choose and working out all of the pre trip information. We decided on the 4 hour salmon trip due to our short time in port. We were not disappointed. Captain James was waiting right outside the boat for us. He was holding a sign and was easily identified. A very short walk to the boat and we were on our way. I had purchased our fishing licenses online in advance as Mike had suggested in order to save time. It was a beautiful day and we all caught some salmon. We were very lucky to have one member of our group to catch a king salmon. That was the highlight of our trip. We saw a dolphin and eagle pretty close up. We shipped our fish back home to enjoy. That was a super easy process. Book this tour! You will love it! Captain James is very experienced and knows exactly what to do!

After reviewing fishing choices in Ketchikan I decided to NOT book a fishing excursion thru our cruise line and try Captain Mike. So glad i did!! As others have said Captain Mike was standing there waiting as we walked off the cruise ship. We had bough our fishing licenses before on-line so in a matter of 15 minutes we were off on our way on our 6 hour excursion. Was a great day as everyone in our group caught a halibut. Our group had a wide range of ages and fishing experience. We had our catch processed and delivered to our house the next week which we are still eating 2 months later. One other note when I returned back to the cruise ship I had asked several others who had booked excursions thru the cruise line if they caught many fish. They told me they were a little disappointed as their boat did not go out as far as Captain Mike and only one person in the boat caught a halibut. I would highly recommend Captain Mike as one of the best chances to catch fish in Ketchican. I recommend booking early as Captain Mike has a limited amount of boats, but this is why he is so highly rated.
