The best fishing charter that I have ever been on. Captain Mike was the consummate pro! If you are in Ketchikan you won’t go wrong by booking on the Alaska Catch!

Went fishing today with Captain Mike. Outstanding could start this review. His attention to safety and guest comfort are a priority. We caught our limit of Halibut while also catching Cod and Rock fish. Very well informed captain of the area. On our trip we were graced with Bald Eagles, humpback whales, porous. Captain Mikes Hewescraft was a very well kept and appointed boat. You can tell when a captain cares about his equipment and clients. We will return and refer The Alaska Catch. Kim Kirby of Alaska Remote Lodges helped us to get in touch with Mike, for a seamless Alaskan Adventure.

After much research we chose The Alaska Catch charter with Captain Mike. Boy did we make the right choice. We had such a wonderful trip. We were on the Emerald Princess cruise ship. We were due to arrive at 6am on May 29th, Mike told us that he would be waiting for us at the end of our ramp and sure enough he was right there waiting for us holding a sign. We only had a short walk to marina where the boat was tied (less than 5 minutes). His boat was spacious, sturdy and comfortable. It had a cabin so that we could sit inside while heading to the fishing grounds. We caught our limit on Halibut, Cod and Rockfish plus a bunch more that we couldn't keep. My husband pulled in fish with his first 4 lines in the water. After I got my timing down I pulled in my fair share as well. Our arms were spaghetti :) We didn't focus on King Salmon due to the state pushing the season for King Salmon out 2 weeks later, maybe next time. :) Mike was very friendly and knowledgable, we couldn't have asked for a better trip. When we were heading back in it was pretty cold and raining a little, Mike had a small heater in the cabin for our comfort and it was much appreciated. We saw other boats that didn't have that luxury. He had drinks and snacks and there was even a small potty if needed. Mike dropped us off right next to our cruise ship, talk about curb service. He took our catch to the processor so that we would be able to enjoy our Alaskan fishing trip after we got home. Once we were back on the ship we talked to others that had gone fishing and found out that they didn't have NEAR the fun we did. Some of them didn't even catch one fish. Since Mike has been a captain in that area for 12 years he knows where to fish based on current conditions to maximize the potential to catch fish. We all know fishing is fishing and nothing is guaranteed but there is something to be said for knowledge, experience and good fishing gear. Mike has all of those covered. We also had a little bonus and saw a whale or two in the distance and a couple of eagles. We have attached a few photos, one of what we sent home and another one of Mike holding one that we had to let go because we couldn't keep anymore. :) We hope that someday we will be able to go to Ketchikan again just so that we can go fishing with Captain Mike.
