This tide pool is a local secret. It's off the beaten path. A miracle of nature. We'll use a jungle/lava rock coastal trail. Each way takes 30-40 min (1/2 mile) (10 minutes in jungle, 20-30 minutes on coast). Only your group will participate. I'll teach you about the pool's ecosystem and the local environment. You'll also have time to explore/relax privately.

- Elevation gain on the hike offers amazing coastal views. Sea turtles are a common sight in the distance.
- The pool is like an infinity pool overlooking cliffs. The water is crystal clear. It's highly likely you'll be alone because this spot is so unknown.
- The pool is like an an aquarium with fish, hermit crabs, rock crabs, sea cucumbers, shrimp, snails, spaghetti worms, pink coralline algae, seaweed, shells, & cool rocks.
- Waves strike cliffs and shoot water in the air like a blowhole (conditions permitting). A once-in-a-lifetime photo opportunity.
- The pool is calm/safe with a deep (4-7 ft.) & shallow (1-4 ft.) area.

Public transportation options are available nearby
Travelers should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness
Wear hiking shoes, hiking sandals, or athletic shoes for the hike. Hiking shoes are most ideal. If you wear sandals, closed-toe are most ideal.
Wear water shoes at the tide pool. Closed-toe shoes with durable soles are most ideal.
Wear a bathing suit and bring a towel. There are no bathrooms at the tide pool.
Many people bring a snorkeling mask or goggles.
Apply "reef safe" sunscreen before the hike to minimize its contact with the tide pool water. Bug spray is unnecessary because there are no ticks and very few bugs or mosquitoes.
Some people bring a first aid kit because I don't provide one.

My husband and I spent 2 week on the big island and this was our favorite memory we took home! Josh was a great tour guide and the hike through the jungle was beautiful too. The hike through the lava rocks is well worth the view and experience when you get there. Well worth the drive from Kona. Mahalo Josh!

This experience exceeded our expectations! We were trepidatious the day before when reading about the footwear recommendations Josh sent us, but it was well worth taking his advice. The hike itself is short but takes time on account of the terrain. We went with 3 middle age adults and two children: 7 & 10. I’d say this hike is appropriate for all levels of fitness as long as you wear the right shoes and don’t have foot/ankle instability. It was adventurous, beautiful and the lagoon payoff was incredible. We were lucky to have mostly sun which made the hike a little easier with kids. Josh was an awesome guide even before we got there! He was responsive to my inquiries well before we arrived on the island, arrived on time and had a very relaxed time table. Our journey was exactly from 2-4:45 and we never felt rushed. We were the only ones on the hike and lagoon. It was really special to take in all the nature in our little group. Mahalo Josh 💚🌈

This was the best hike! Worth every penny! This was so personal and no one was around! Our guide was phenomenal and so much fun to hang with
