July 8th was our second outing on the Fame. Positively beautiful day, the Captain and Crew were great, as we took the 1 pm tour of Salem Harbor. Three full sails (and willing passengers can help to raise them). The ship is a replica of an early 1800's Privateer.
A surprisingly small ship, which had the ability to commandeer much larger warships, the Fame is complete with a small cannon. Captain Mike gives a great history of the era, and is very skilled in his handling of the vessel. My friend Bill lost his hat, and the crew sprung to action, turning the ship around and securing the floating hat on its second pass.
A great way to spend 2 hours on a sunny Sunday afternoon.
