I went here based on excellent TA and Yelp reviews and was not disappointed. The brewery/distillery is in an industrial area of San Antonio. Don't be fooled by the somewhat nondescript surroundings. Just open the door and your senses and warm welcome will let you know you are in the right place.
For $10.00, you get a detailed (~2 hour) tour, a souvenir glass jar and two, 16 oz samples of their excellent beers. For a small surcharge, you can also try two of their award winning whiskey. You can also purchase extra glasses of their beers for VERY reasonable prices (~$4-$6). Finally, if you are into spirits, they have bottles of what they distribute to stores and varieties only available at the distillery.
I have been on several brewery/distillery tours, and this one may have been the most informative. Our guide clearly and simply explained the beer brewing process and how various spirits are made. It was very informative.
My only issues were that it was quite long. I think it could have been shortened a bit without sacrificing any information. Also, they expect you to stand for nearly all of the two hours, most of it standing in the same two places (on the floor of the actual brewery and distillery. Obviously they cannot put chairs in there to sit, but it was tiring and I think unnecessary. I would suggest more of the explaining could be done in the front, air conditioned seating area. Secondly, our guide chose to climb up on a staircase to talk for a long time. Unfortunately, he positioned himself so high (I think so he could reach his own beer), that participants had to crane their necks to look at him. This seemed unnecessary.
However, in all, it was an excellent brew/distillery tour - one of the best I've been on - and certainly the best at offering 32 oz of excellent refreshment while participating. I highly recommend it.
