This prestigious award recognizes Cruisin' the Castro as a longstanding, community-servicing business and a valuable cultural asset to the City & County of San Francisco.

Tours are fun, fascinating and offers twice as many tour stops that not only include the colorful sites of the largest LGBTQ community in the world, but explores the spectrum of sexual and gender diversity and the struggle with achieving equal rights in America.   No other tour offer this rare and educational opportunity!

Tours are conducted by a local resident, professional tour guide and a civil rights activist.

I booked to go on the Crusin' the Castro Walking Tour while I was on holiday in SF, after it being recommended by a friend. I honestly can't recommend this tour highly enough. Our guide Kathy met us at 10am under the large pride flag, and she was completely welcoming. For the whole tour Kathy was completely engaging, interesting and a passionate advocate for LGBT civil rights. It was fascinating to learn the history of the Castro area through this tour. The tour takes around 2 hours, and the pace is quite gentle with many stops. Even though Kathy has been running these tours for many years, it didn't feel like a rehearsed speech, but as though a friend was showing me around their neighbourhood. She made a special effort to speak to everyone individually, and to find out our story. Please, if you are in San Francisco, your trip wouldn't be complete without this tour. I would recommend it without hesitation.

Did the tour together with my family from Germany. Kathy was great and very engaging. It's a shame how LGBTQ+ people still don't have the same rights throughout the U.S. and the world. Many interesting stories about about LGBTQ+ movement in San Francisco. Only downside: if you visited the Castro before you won't discover any new landmarks.

Tour guide Kathy was awesome. Her language was inclusive and sensitive to the diverse beauty of our community. This tour is a MUST for those identifying as LGBT. She was patient and allowed time for patrons to ask, explore and really feel the information being given. There is more to the Castro than the bar scene. I’m so glad we made time for this tour. Paired with a free Wednesday at the GLBT Museum, this experience offered empowerment and education with deep roots in the movement of our lives.
