Being a skeptical ghost enthusiast (yes, it's a thing :) ), I have been on quite a few ghost tours across the country. That being said, I could hardly contain my excitement to finally visit Savannah - often considered America's most-haunted city. Trying to pick a tour proved complicated as there are SO many companies in town, and even Ghost City Tours hosts quite a few different options themselves. We decided on the Dead of the Night Tour with its promise to be adults-only and creepier than any competitor.
Our guide was Skippy Spiral, who is quite a character -- definitely animated and passionate about Savannah and it's haunted history. The tour starts "late" and does feel like the dead of the night as you tour fairly quiet portions of the city, and feel like you might be the only (living) ones out and about....
The tour includes a few gritty and slightly gruesome stories, but nothing I wouldn't consider PG-13 on the scary/adult scale. I guess with all the warnings on the website I expected a bit more in terms of creep factor.
Overall, the tour was good. Not the best, not the worst. Highlights were Skippy's quirky impersonations and of course, Savannah's overall spook factor - dangling moss in the moonlight is guaranteed to make a perfectly creepy pic! The tour does include quite a few guest-captured pictures of possible paranormal evidence and some recorded EVPs too, so it was nice to see those things incorporated alongside the stories. I think the strongest reason to take the tour is probably the time of it, was nice to experience the potential hauntedness of the city without a lot of traffic/noise and interference.
