I review often on Tripadvisor, and it is rare that I give a bad review to something. There are a few reasons for this...
We booked the tour for a 9pm walking tour with this company after I searched many reviews of different tours. When exploring the website for Ghost City Tours, the first thing listed on their page is "Social Distancing since 2012".
It also states: Being that we're outdoors, making it easy to 'Social Distance', our Tours are already a ridiculously safe way of getting out and about. Now, you can have even more peace of mind.
We were traveling to Savannah on a girls 50th birthday weekend and a few in our group was concerned about social distancing. This tour seemed the best idea!
Once I booked , I received an email that we would meet Will and Harley as our tour guides. I do understand that staffing could change, but I was given two other tour leaders. (Okay, no big deal). Once we had arrived we noticed quite a few people in our group. We had never anticipated that with the companies bragging off social distancing that there would be 28, yes 28 people on our group that night.
There were only a couple people that had masks on. On top of it, I saw the next night that another tour group was using headphones and the guide had a mic. on so they NEVER had to stand close to anyone. It seemed so safe!!
The tour guide tried to project her voice, but with NO microphone, the ONLY way you could hear her is by gathering in close. Well, that was not going to happen! We stayed farther back and after about 30 minutes of our 90 minute tour, we walked away. We could not hear a word she was saying and we were too uncomfortable to stand should to should with people we didnt know. I was honestly so disappointed. I was so excited to do the tour and so let down.
This brings me to my next issue. I vowed to my friends that I would reach out to Ghost City tours and talk to them about how I felt and our experience.
On Monday 7/27 I called and talked to a woman in the office. I told her that before I reviewed them on Tripadvisor I wanted to share my experience with them. She took all of my information and told me that the higher up management would definitely want to talk with me about things. She told me that I would hear from them Tuesday and if not Wednesday at the latest. That week came and went. I reached out again on Monday 8/3 and spoke to her again. She remembered and apologized profusely and said she was passing my info directly to managers when they came in around 2pm that day. I never heard from them.
So I was left with promises of being covid safe which didnt happen. On top of it I thought that maybe some good customer service would redeem them. I am so disappointed on so many levels. I would never recommend this tour group. Yes, they failed on make it covid safe, but the really FAILED at customer service.
