I took this adventure with my husband and adult son. We are all in good physical condition but the hike proved to be trickier than anticipated or described. The trail was slippery, there were boulders that had to be navigated and three sections of the river/stream that had to be crossed. Traversing a log, I ended up severely fracturing my ankle. I do not see this as the fault of Alii Kayaks or our wonderful tour guide, but there did not appear to be an emergency plan in place. There was no radio or cell phone contact and no plan to get a hiker back to the marina except by kayak, which my son had to do. I wrapped my ankle in an extra shirt I had brought and we made our way back the 2+ miles to the marina where a helpful stranger called an ambulance. The fracture required surgery and we had to extend our stay on the island. I am sad to report that no one from Ali'i Kayaks ever contacted us during our extended stay or in the six+ weeks we have been home. It's a lovely trip, but read the waiver carefully and consider your physical condition before reserving your spot. M. Paulson Spokane WA
