Our new heated (during winter), luxury pontoon aims to amp up the manatee sighting and deliver a more personal event! Observe the endangered West Indian Manatee in Crystal River’s idyllic Kings Bay National Wildlife Refuge. Your US Coast Guard licensed captains and guides will take you into the 600 acre spring fed refuge waters for viewing and snorkeling with these slow moving wild giants. All equipment, fees, snacks and beverages are included.

River Ventures

Embark on your journey with a Coast Guard Certified Master Captain who will be your in water chaperon, educator and photographer. Your tour will run four hours from start to finish and everything you will need is included for one price. You will begin at our full-service tour facility, where you will be educated about the animals in a classroom type setting and receive tips for your snorkel tour to make the most of your day. You will be taught the in’s and out’s of ‘passive interaction’ as this ensures that the animals enjoy the experience as much as we do! You will then be suited up and transported to the dock, where a Coast Guard certified covered pontoon will be waiting for you. This rich estuary will amaze…..birds, fish and wildlife abound! Submerge yourself in the manatee’s world! Finish your adventure by viewing your Captain’s photos back at our facility and be sure to visit our one-of-a-kind gift shop! Our well-informed staff will direct to other local attractions, restaurants and answer of your questions before you are on your way.

The height of spring bring, poorly behaved tourists, and changing water conditions had everything against us. I warned my boys we may see nothing. While that happened to many other groups it didn't happen to ours. Shelley and Emerson were amazing, were so kind and informative, took the time to help my 7 year old who was struggling a bit, whole all the while emphasizing the importance of responsibly enjoying this opportunity. People need to have realistic expectations, these are wild animals and nobody can guarantee you will see anything. Be open to the crews suggestions...had we insisted on one thing or another we would have ended up like everyone else. Instead we chose to listen to their recommendations that had nothing to do with manatees but ended up leading to 2 amazing encounters without crowds. As difficult as it can be (I did it alone with 2 young boys) booked the earliest your possible...like 630a-7a early. Painful to get going but totally worth beating the crowds in the end. Thank you guys so much!

We had the most awesome time with Chip and Skylar on our encounter with the manatees. Chip was our captain and Sky was our tour guide. Best time ever !!!!! They were able to find manatees and were great at letting us know what to expect ! We had a very long and personal encounter with baby Charlie. It was awesome!!!! The whole time was fabulous... friendly staff, knowledgeable staff, and made every effort to make our group feel welcome and comfortable. Loved the tour from the beginning to the end !!

We booked the "Semi-Private VIP Manatee Tour - Pontoon of Privilege (4 hr Heated) - Crystal River" and I couldn't be any happier with our experience. We were in the capable hands of Captain Ross and Captain Chip, and they really made the experience for us- great guys! We went in with the understanding that it was the tail end of manatee season and it may be difficult to get up close, but even in water with 3-4' visibility, we were able to swim with these amazing animals. Given the poor visibility, we opted to take our tour elsewhere and hit up a few local springs (King, Hunter, Jurassic, and Home (I think?) Springs) We swam with a huge school of snapper at King spring, and even saw a small gator hanging out in the bay. Captain Ross told us stories and was generally just an incredibly entertaining guy to spend time with. We're already planning on making the trip down in January of 2022 and requesting Captain Ross and Captain chip again. A few notes on this particular tour: I opted to spend the extra money for the small group (six folks total) mostly because of COVID concerns, but was happy for the extra attention, laid back feel, and ability to decide to customize our time and go play in the springs. The fact that the boat was enclosed and heated definitely turned out to be awesome, as I ended up feeling a lot colder than I thought I would. The snacks, drinks, and hot coffee/cocoa were just more bonus on top of an already epic morning. We can't wait to do it again!
