On Thursday, we started early (!!) in the morning with a cool swim trip to see sea lakes in Crystal River with Tanner and Mike from River Ventures.
During the entire tour, great emphasis was placed on taking care of the sea islands and on how we should behave in the water so that we could observe without disturbing.
We had chosen their Premium version, which includes, among other things, covered, heated boat - we definitely did not regret it, as the “warm springs” were a cold pleasure
There were not quite as many sea hunters as I had hoped. The waters in the Mexican Gulf have not yet become cold enough to seek into the hot springs to overwinter.
Tanner chose with his great experience and knowledge of the area, the perfect place,
We were therefore able to see a lot of sea lakes and some of them swam very close past us.
It was a both educational and exciting experience, which can be highly recommended.
It is recommended to bring swim gloves, swim socks and cap, as the water is cool (about 20-22 degrees) and you can get cold while swimming.
It is also a good idea to have warm clothes with, which are easy to wear when you need to warm up again on the sailing trip, e.g. a winter bathing poncho, morning robe, jumpsuit and the like.
I would recommend the early morning walk where the area is less overrun. Please plan so that you afterwards have the opportunity to go home to the hotel and take a long hot bath.
