My daughter (26yrs) and I (60yrs) both loved our Segway tour with our guide (Hunt). It was both informative and FUN! Hunt has been a guide for 17 yrs and grew up in Sonoma. We couldn’t have asked for a better person to show the area. He patiently instructed how to operate our Segways and made sure we were comfortable before embarking on our tour. Gliding through residential neighborhoods and down country roads next to vineyards was such a unique experience. Hunt chose quiet streets and made safety a top priority.
At our first stop, we got off our Segways to walk through a beautiful vineyard. Hunt shared the history of winemaking in Sonoma and how grapes are grown. We proceeded to our first tasting. Our patio table had a beautiful view of the vineyard and lake. We sampled a variety of excellent wines (tasting was $40 ea). My daughter and I got to see the wine cave and learned about the type of barrels in which wine is aged. Well worth the visit!
Then we were off to the second stop. Before our tasting, we had lunch on a beautiful terrace at the winery. The lunch was perfect - a charcuterie plate with local cheeses, meats, olives and pickles. Our sandwiches were focaccia bread with fresh basil, tomatoes and mozzarella (other choices with meat are available) in addition to chips snd a cookie.
The tasting was inside the stately winery ($20 ea). We were impressed with the wide range of wines offered. We learned the interesting history of the family who founded the winery. Hunt showed us the wine cave and provided details about it’s construction. After taking photos, we drove our Segways back to the starting point.
The Sonoma Segway Tour is a first-class experience. Hunt is a knowledgable and personable host. He provided great suggestions for other activities during our visit to Sonoma. I would highly recommend the Segway tour or any other activity offered by this company.
