While the Wine Trolley served its purpose - transporting me to wineries so I didn’t have to drive myself or plan a route - there are better tours to be had in the area.
The trolley is a novelty and makes for nice photos, but it’s a windy and bumpy ride. It also had mechanical issues during our tour.
A woman was vomiting on the trolley before the tour started, and was allowed to stay on the tour. She was asked to wear a mask, and did so for about 10 minutes. She should have been refunded and asked to stay behind. Stay home when you’re sick!
The tour “guide” is really just a driver. Mike gave us a couple of facts about Sonoma at the very beginning, and that was it. He did not stick around once he dropped us at each winery. He didn’t even make sure everyone received their lunch at VJB - the order was short and two people had to wait 15 minutes while their sandwiches were made. He also rushed us at the end, the tour was over by 3:30, not the advertised 4:30.
The wineries were nice, the wine was good, the lunch was meh, the tasting fees were reasonable. But you can get that experience from any tour, it doesn’t have to be the trolley.
