30 years ago, before the era of organized trolley tours, we wandered around Napa and Sonoma visiting vineyards. For this trip we wanted more information about the growers, process, etc. We visited 4 vineyards on this tour - about 6 hours - and got insightful process-type info at 2 of them. Probably we didn't fully understand the nature of the tour because the expectation is that you will pay the additional $25 tasting fee per person at each stop. We were advised of this in advance but led to believe that it was optional ~ which it was, but awkward none the less because my husband is on chemo and not drinking; I'm not a wine drinker so neither of us was much interested in the drinking/tasting aspect. The tour 'guide' is actually a trolley driver and a nice, engaging guy but very little information was imparted by him. Lunch was gourmet & tasty. The group was diverse and that was fun.

Thank you for joining us on the Sonoma Valley Wine Trolley Tour. As the name implies its a wine tour where wine is the focus of the tour. Yes you have the option to drink or not drink. Many of the wineries, will offer you a tour of the facility and they charge for that if you taste the wine our not. I think a more self guided tour of Napa could have worked if you just wanted to sign up for to see a winery our two.
