You will start your excursion by checking into our log cabin office at the Talkeetna State Airport 45 minutes prior to your flight departure. Be sure to bring your sunglasses, light jacket (in the summer) and plenty of memory on your camera. Board our ski-equipped aircraft and enjoy your pilots' commentary about the geological history and local wildlife on your individual headset. Continue your flight above Talkeetna and over the river systems of the Susitna valley as you enter into an incredible landscape of icefalls, glaciers and snow peaks. You'll be awed by the Great Gorge of the Ruth Glacier, filled with a 4,000 foot thick river of ice, making this one of the deepest gorges in the world. This was our first Alaska trip and the last adventure we had booked at the last minute. What an experience! Nothing even comes close. Talkeetna Air Taxi was the most professional company. Everything was easy to do from the simple website, to the clear instructions on what to bring and, most importantly, the focus on safety. We did the Southside explorer with Glacier landing. The best choice ever as the North side was all smoked out and we were told you could maybe view the top of the mountain at some angle. Our pilot, Melissa was so much fun and she went into enormous details about each mountain and the glacier and a lot of fun facts. She even allowed my son to sit with her next to the pilot's seat. He was simply blown away by the experience. The landing, which I was a little wary of, was smooth as butter. And what a view when you get out. The mighty Denali just right there in front of you looking regal glistening in the sun. We got a lot of time hanging around the glacial amphitheater admiring the pools of blue water and even tried to build a snowman. This is the best company you can choose for the Denali view and landing. The return was perfect too and everything was done so well.

This place is clean and professionally run. The plane was nearly new and very nice. The headphones worked well and the pilot was very experienced; I felt very comfortable flying with him. Not sure why we needed to get there 45 minutes early, but it wasn't really a problem; I just hate getting up early. Unfortunately Denali's peak was hiding in clouds, but we got to see base camp which was busy that day.
