$58.00 per person we at first thought was a dinner cruise then we saw in billed more like a heavy snack so we ate a full dinner before getting on board. Turns out it was more than sufficent meal and we felt foolish for having spent extra for dinner. I think better wording would help clear up confusion. Otherwise it was a good cruise and a good crew.
Pros: The view was spectacular, even on a partially foggy evening, the sunset was gorgeous, the crew was friendly, accomodating and professional, the entertainment was relaxing, and the buffet was tasty, plentiful and filling (Still plates of sandwhiches left over at the end of the trip. Also, not sure that the buffet was from Boudin because the napkins advertised for another restaurant a couple blocks away.)
Cons: Cleanliness left much to be desired on this cruise. The ship is old, it is immediatly apparent that salty sea spray has taken its toll and the ship has been minimally maintained. The windows on the bottom level were thick with dried dirty sea water, so visibility was difficult. This made taking pictures difficult because my camera kept focusing on the dirty windows. The second level offered better viewing. The bathrooms are not as clean as they could be, sort of reminiscent of "gas station" clean.
That said, we enjoyed our experience and would do it again with realistic expectations. This is not a luxury liner, definitely more of a rustic adventure. Two hours is just the right amount of time to enjoy the views, the food, being on the water at sunset and then move on to something else. Bring a jacket. The San Fran moderate climate coupled with the wind speed generated by the moving vessel it made for a super chilly ride, even in the middle of July.
Very good trip, well organised, informative, great staff and great food, all in all a very good experience and value for money
