Zack was an absolutely incredible instructor! He was friendly, gave clear instructions and advice on what we needed to do and we were able to catch several waves thanks to him! My advice for future travelers is to definitely build up your upper body strength before you come, you’re gonna need it.

You need to know before you obligate yourself or anyone else to these lessons that the paddle out to where the actual waves are has got to be over a quarter of a mile through rough water. My 17 year old daughter made it with assistance but my 15 year old daughter had to turn back, as did my wife so our youngest wouldn't be alone. Although I was warned that it was shallow I still managed to hit my foot on the coral which completed dictated the rest of the vacation. Limping around Oahu for the rest of the week was definitely not what I had in mind. We spent almost $500 for 2 hours of surf lessons and two of us spent maybe 30 minutes actually trying to catch a wave. To be clear, the young man that was trying to help us did his very best to make sure we had a good time. We were simply too tired to really enjoy it. Be honest with yourself about your physical condition. It is going to be a grueling 2 hours even for someone in great shape. Good luck!
