We had signed up for lessons on Kauai as a cruise ship excursion, and we were very disappointed that it was cancelled due to lack of a "group". When we returned to Honolulu, my wife started calling to find a place that would take us that day. Luckily, we found Big Wave Dave Surf. Our "group" was still only my wife and me, Kevin was our instructor and he was fantastic. He showed us on dry land what to do and we practiced there a bit before hitting the beach. After a couple tries we were both up and loving it! Also, cost was better than the it would have been on Kauai. They also offer a CD of photos that were taken of you while surfing for an additional fee. They will be a great reminder of the awesome time we had... so glad we found this place! One tip I would share... if you have water shoes, bring them to Waikiki to surf in.

Conveniently located just off the beach, the staff is chill and helpful and did a good job of covering the basics on-land, before heading to the waves. We didn't hear a lot of good things about Waikiki Beach - and it's true, the beach is packed and there are dozens of bobbing heads trying to catch a wave, but it is a good place to learn how to surf. The instructors made sure everyone got on their boards and were attentive to everyone in the session. Our son was so thrilled, we rented the board for another three hours and had to pull him out of the water at the end. I highly recommend renting a rash guard so you're not rubbed raw! We bought some great photos and videos from the staff photographer too. Hours of run.

My daughter had a BLAST she did a small group lesson.They took their time with each individual making sure that everyone got the basics right.There she was catching the WAVES.Thx for giving us great memories my daughter having a blast for being very dedicated to all your students...SEE YA NEXT YEAR
