Here at Ohana Surf Project we believe our clients are like family, and we strive to provide the best service to every person who chooses to join us on the water and we welcome their loved ones who come along to support them as well. We are passionate about surfing and specialize in three ways of teaching you how to glide across the water: surf, stand up paddle and bodyboard. All of our staff members have been in the business for many years and are some of the finest instructors in the industry. We love what we do and we enjoy working together, as a team and as ohana to make our students feel safe, comfortable, and successful.

Our biggest priority is SAFETY! All our coaches and guides are professional, trained in safety (CPR, lifeguard, first aid), and friendly.

We look forward to welcoming you into our ohana and showing you the aloha spirit that has kept each of us here in Hawaii-- enjoying life & good company, respecting the 'aina (our mother earth), having fun and staying active.

2 participant minimum required to book. Participants must be 13 or older and able to swim.
If any participants cannot swim, please advise the staff ahead of time as a private lesson may be required.
If any participants have medical conditions or injuries, please advise the staff ahead of time
If you are prone to seasickness, you may want to take a remedy you are accustomed to using before the lesson (talk to your doctor for recommendations).
These lessons are a ratio of 1 instructor for 2 participants.
Please come prepared for the lesson by wearing your bathing suit, bringing a towel, and making sure to apply sunscreen ahead of time.
All of our written materials are also available in Spanish, Japanese, Korean and Chinese. We will do our best to accommodate, but cannot guarantee, Japanese, Korean, Spanish or Chinese speaking-instructors without enough advance notice.
Complimentary transportation is available from select locations in Waikiki. Exact pick-up location and time will be emailed to you by the supplier. If you do not receive these details 24 hours prior to your lesson, please contact Ohana Surf Project.

We booked a private lesson for 4 kids ages 10 & 22. The staff & instructors were absolutely amazing. Took great care of our kids

Thank you for choosing OSP! We're so glad we were able to get all 4 kids surfing that day, and it was great that all the parents were able to stand on the jetty and watch them all catch waves and have fun. We hope you all jump in the water with us next time. Lots of aloha from their coaches Matt, Troy, Chelsea and the whole crew!

I booked a group course and got a private lesson with Mike because I was the only one who booked at that time. Mike is a great teacher with a lot of experience. I had little experience and only practiced on land before Mike taught me. I had some good waves and rented a board there the very next day. Everyone is very friendly. I fully recommend Surf Shack if you want to learn to surf
