Overview

Here at Ohana Surf Project we believe our clients are like family, and we strive to provide the best service to every person who chooses to join us on the water and we welcome their loved ones who come along to support them as well. We are passionate about surfing and specialize in three ways of teaching you how to glide across the water: surf, stand up paddle and bodyboard. All of our staff members have been in the business for many years and are some of the finest instructors in the industry. We love what we do and we enjoy working together, as a team and as ohana to make our students feel safe, comfortable, and successful.

Our biggest priority is SAFETY! All our coaches and guides are professional, trained in safety (CPR, lifeguard, first aid), and friendly.

We look forward to welcoming you into our ohana and showing you the aloha spirit that has kept each of us here in Hawaii-- enjoying life & good company, respecting the 'aina (our mother earth), having fun and staying active.

2 participant minimum required to book. Participants must be 13 or older and able to swim.
If any participants cannot swim, please advise the staff ahead of time as a private lesson may be required.
If any participants have medical conditions or injuries, please advise the staff ahead of time
If you are prone to seasickness, you may want to take a remedy you are accustomed to using before the lesson (talk to your doctor for recommendations).
These lessons are a ratio of 1 instructor for 2 participants.
Please come prepared for the lesson by wearing your bathing suit, bringing a towel, and making sure to apply sunscreen ahead of time.
All of our written materials are also available in Spanish, Japanese, Korean and Chinese. We will do our best to accommodate, but cannot guarantee, Japanese, Korean, Spanish or Chinese speaking-instructors without enough advance notice.
Complimentary transportation is available from select locations in Waikiki. Exact pick-up location and time will be emailed to you by the supplier. If you do not receive these details 24 hours prior to your lesson, please contact Ohana Surf Project.

We were hesitant on booking surfing lessons as we are not strong swimmers, but we are so glad we did. We did a semi-private session with Ny and he was extremely helpful and helped us ride a few waves! He gave personal pointers to help us improve every time. Definitely recommend Ohana Surf Project for any first time surfers or even experienced surfers as they adjust based on your skill level.

What an absolute blast. I went in with very low expectations of being able to get up on a board & left after riding most of the one I attempted. The instruction is very clear & feels very safe the entire time. The instructors are both encouraging & do a great job of helping you be comfortable in the water when selecting a wave to hop up on. I cannot recommend this enough. Especially good for first timers. This was my wife & I's first trip & Ohana Surf Project will be a stable of any future trip.
