We visited Cincinnati for two days and made sure that booked an Underground Tour with American Legacy Tour. Our tour was 4pm on a Tuesday and we ended up being the only people booked. Laura was our tour guide and she was incredible! We walked over to the park that overlooks the Cincinnati Music Hall. Laura was filled with so much historical information about the city and answered my burning question of the significance of the flying pig! ( I would spill the secret, but you have to take the tour!)
Part of the tour was visiting St. Francis church and learning about the role of the church in the late 1800s/early 1900s as well as the churches a role today in the community. You get to sit out in the garden to listen to the history, as well as take a tour of the inside of the church. The tour of the crypt is both creepy and intriguing!
The grand finale of the tour is visiting the underground tunnels that were used to make lager in the late 1800s before prohibition. Be advised that you will sign a waiver due to the conditions of the underground tunnels. The stairs to get underground are steep! You should NOT go on the tour if you are not in a physical condition that would allow you to walk up and down steep stairs, walk on uneven ground, or are uncomfortable in closed in spaces. The underground portion is wet due to lots of rainfall, but there is light and easy to see. At one point you are approximately 35 feet underground, so take that into consideration when booking the tour.
Laura was a great tour guide and I would request her or book a tour during her time! And please- tip your guide!
