I've been wanting to see Antelope Canyon for years and we finally made it happen this fall. Nathan did a fabulous job sharing the history of the canyons, highlighting unique areas in all 3 (Antelope, Owl, and Rattlesnake), taught us how to use our iPhones to take amazing photos, and created an amazing experience overall.
Pros:
Knowledgeable tour guides who are indigenous to the area. Our tour guide grew up in the canyon area and on the reservation. He shared tons of memories of growing up there.
Excellent photo opportunities.
We saw owls and a baby rattlesnake in the canyons along with some cows.
Learning about the dangers of touring the canyon if there is rain even 20 miles away.
Admiring the breathtaking beauty that nature creates and shapes over thousands of years
Cons:
You will be in an off road 4 wheel drive vehicle and the road to the canyons is very bumpy.
If you have mobility issues, this might be very challenging.
Antelope canyon is very busy with tours and you have only brief stops throughout to take photos - be on your toes.
Wear sturdy shoes. I wish I'd had hiking boots instead of running shoes as the boots have thicker soles and would be more stable climbing through (no climbing really in antelope, but definitely in rattlesnake canyon)
One of the main reasons I recommend this tour is that the knowledgeable guide. But aside from that, I appreciated having an enclosed vehicle to visit the canyon in (vs. an open air truck with seats in back). If it's dry, it is VERY dusty driving through the canyon and that's not something I would want to breathe in. I would strongly encourage you to do the 3 canyon tours as owl and rattlesnake canyons were far less busy and perfect for incredible photo opportunities.
