USS ALABAMA Battleship Memorial Park

The Battleship Memorial Park is home to two National Historic Landmarks, the WWII Battleship USS Alabama and the Submarine USS Drum. Step back in time and see what life was like aboard these navy vessels. Explore the Aircraft Pavilion, home to 28 historic aircraft and antique military vehicles. Afterwards, make your way over to the Great War exhibit, which opened in March 2016 in celebration of the 100th anniversary of WWI. Throughout the park you will see memorials honoring modern war veterans including the Fallen Hero’s 9/11 Memorial, the Korean Memorial, the Vietnam Memorial, and a monument honoring Military Service dogs. Spend your time however you desire as this self-guided tour will allow you to discover the park on your own terms.

We really enjoyed our trip here! There was so much to see and so much to learn from our visit, and we would definitely come again with our other kids! It is easy to get turned around but everything is so well labelled that you cannot really get lost. There are lots of ladders to climb! But totally worth it.

We viewed the on a Sunday and it was an amazing experience! The weather was hot but didn't stop my grand kiddos from loving the deck and guns, I was humbled by the design of long ago thinking of the over 3,000 men protecting our nation during the war. The gift shop had a General there book signing and I watched with tears in my eyes at the reverence that was present in his company. Ticket prices were reasonable and I would recommend this for sure.

Touring the ship was amazing. You got a feel for how it was for the soldiers on board. Where they slept, ate and the different assignments they had on board. If they fell ill or needed a dentist you were able to see where these services took place. A lot of history on this ship and well worth touring it.
