I was disappointed by so much on this trip. Everyone had raved about it, but that wasn't my experience. First, we paid for meals for my husband, son and I and thought they'd be served to us on the train. When we got to the depot tho, there were alot of people already there because first you stood in a line to get your drinks and then stood in another line to get your meals which you ate before you got on the train. There were only a few tables outside in the blazing sun to eat at as all the other were full because many people already knew you ate the meal first. -- I knew the three of us might have to share a two couch section with someone else. Well, we had assigned seats and it turned out that my husband and son sat at a two person table, and I was the 4th person in another party - a woman and her two grandsons. They were very nice and we chatted alot, but the part that amazed me the most was that we were on the bad side of the train! My husband and son across from us saw the river and alot nicer scenery than we did. I ended up in the aisle seat and couldn't see all that much. Then after being on the train for two hours I, who have never gotten motion sickness, started feeling real nauseated and spent the two hour return trip barely keeping my food down. I was surprised to find out that the engine is moved to the back of the train for the return trip. In other words, you simply rode backwards on exactly the same side of the train you started out on and had the same scenery going back. I thought the whole train would turned around so everyone got to see the view on the other side. -- Also could you please add a category of family, all adult on your list of who was with you.

We understand your disappointment in not being seated together. We try to be as clear as possible that odd-numbered reservations can be separated. We try to make it so you can "trade off" the river side and canyon side to share the different views and that is why half are on each side. Were you able to take advantage of the open-air viewing cars and this complimentary car allows you all to walk around and view the canyon from many different directions.

Beautiful scenery and comfortable ride. Provided snack box was great but the box lunch at the station cafe was unnecessary. Service on the train was great.

This was train ride was so much fun! The inside was old fashioned. You are free to use the uncovered cabin to really take in the scenery. The waiter/bartender talked about some interesting facts. The snacks that come with the ride were yummy. The other passengers on the train were all so friendly and fun spirited. It's just a fun ride to have with a bottle of wine. Really enjoyed it with my husband. And when we got to the train depot before we even left, we got to visit with a bald eagle. I would definitely do this again.
